Why Black America Shouldn’t Care About ICE

Why should Black Americans care about ICE when nobody cared when we were — and still are — dealing with SWAT? SWAT teams were created after the Watts Rebellion of 1965 specifically to control Black communities. That same system of militarized policing was normalized on our backs, and now those same tactics are being used elsewhere. Nobody fought for us, so why do we have to fight for them? In this episode, we dig into the history of how SWAT was born, how it connects to today’s immigration enforcement, and why solidarity can’t be one-sided.
