Pop singer Lizzo released a photo of her new body on Instagram yesterday, and MTO News learned that almost immediately her fans began speculating that the pop superstar may be bleaching her skin MTO News confirmed that Lizzo's comment section was flooded with angry fans asking her to "stop bleaching" her skin. Lizzo didn't appear to respond to the comments. Skin bleaching is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures for women of color, and has come a long way in the last few years. Now, the preferred method of bleaching for women is an intravenous (IV) drip of glutathione, a powerhouse antioxidant naturally found in our bodies. Glutathione lightens the skin by deactivating the enzyme tyrosinase, which helps produce melanin. Thousands of clinics have popped up in recent years advertising a glutathione IV drip as a "natural" way to "detoxify" the body.
