A Black Man in Memphis Got Set Up When He Met a "Dustina" On A Dating App...AND GUESS WHO GOT SHOT?

Is this like Black Planet from back in the date, or is it more like Myspace for black people? Whatever the case, people need to be really careful who they interact with on these dating apps because it is clear that many people have bad intentions. We have done numerous stories like this, and often the outcome is murder. The man was able to escape with his life this time, but the next man or woman might not be so lucky. Four people are behind bars after allegedly setting a man up to be robbed using a dating app. On Nov. 15, a man called Memphis police and asked them to meet him at Methodist North Hospital. He said he was on a dating app called Mocospace, where he agreed to meet a woman by the screenname “Sonja,” according to an affidavit. The man went to the 8000 block of Sag Harbor Circle and knocked on an apartment door. A woman opened the door and invited him in. Once inside, he was confronted by a man and another woman, according to the affidavit. They allegedly demanded his cell phone, car keys and wallet. When the victim refused, the suspects began assaulting him, police said. He was led downstairs to a parking lot and put in the backseat of a dark-colored Honda, police said. The victim said one woman drove, one woman was in the front passenger seat, and the man sat in the backseat with him. They planned to kill him, but he jumped out and ran into the woods when the car finally stopped. They shot at him five times but missed, and he was able to make his way to a local hospital where he could call the police. Jasmine A. Williams, 22; Trevor Keys, 32; and Nadia Townsend, 29, Jasmine S. Williams, 22, as suspects during a photo lineup and they have been charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Acting in Concert: Aggravated Robbery, and Employment of a Firearm during Dangerous Felony.
