Michael Hill who won a whopping $10 million lottery in 2017 has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Keonna Graham. What actually happened? Complex got the details; Lottery winner Michael Hill won his $10 million prize in 2017 after buying a scratch-off game and seeing his jackpot. However, things have gone south since his win. 23-year-old Keonna Graham was reported missing on July 20, 2020. After that, the woman was found dead with a “gunshot wound to the back of the head.” Reports noted the woman was in a relationship with Hill for over a year before her body was found at the SureStay Hotel 40 miles away from Wilmington, North Carolina. “Surveillance footage from the hotel showed Hill as the only individual in the hotel room with Graham. Hill was later arrested by law enforcement in Southport, North Carolina, and confessed to shooting Graham after she had been texting other men while at the hotel,” said prosecutors via news release. Hill was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in 2020 and faced a jury on May 27 this year. According to officials, the man was found guilty and will serve “life in prison without the possibility of parole and 22-36 months in prison for Possession of Firearm by Felon to run concurrent with his life sentence,” according to officials. No word on if he is broke now. In a news release from the 15th Prosecutorial District of North Carolina, prosecutors said surveillance footage from the hotel showed Hill was the only person in the room with Graham. They said Hill later confessed to shooting Graham after she had been texting with other men while at the hotel. Hill won $10 million from a scratch-off ticket in August 2017, local news outlets reported. At that time, CBS affiliate WECT described Hill as a nuclear power plant worker and said he intended to use his lump-sum winnings of over $4,159,000, after taxes, to pay off bills and help his wife’s business.
