While searching for Susan, police first focused on the relationship between 35-year-old Steven Schiovone and Keith Ambrosino. “From what I was told, they didn’t really have a good relationship… one always had to up the other. So, they never really ever got along,” said Taylor Ambrosino, Susan’s daughter, on Fatal Family Feuds. The feud started when Keith and Susan Ambrosino married in 1997. The couple moved to Colorado when Keith was stationed in the Army. But by 1999 they divorced, and Susan and their daughter, Taylor, came back to New York to live with family, while Keith stayed behind. Meanwhile, his brother, Steven Schiovone, began to help the mother and daughter. “I don’t remember my actual father being around, but I can tell you everything I remember about my Uncle Steven,” Taylor said. “He stepped in as a father figure for me…any time I needed something or my mother needed something, Uncle Steven was there.” When Keith moved back to New York in 2004, he discovered the relationship his brother had with his ex-wife and daughter in his absence. “He discovers that his brother has kind of taken over the role of being Taylor’s father,” Richard Weir with New York Daily News said on Fatal Family Feuds. "He’s been there supporting her. Taking care of her. Doting on her. Steven and Keith end up becoming ‘arch enemies.’” Schiovone also stood in the way of the reason Keith had returned to New York. “Keith told me he’d only come back into town because he wanted to get back with Susan. And then his brother ruined this all,” Napolitano said.
