I just had to break down this crazy election in New York City! Zoran Mandani officially won the mayoral race, becoming the first Ugandan Indian to hold that office. But it’s his victory speech that has everybody talking, especially when he looked right into the camera and sent a direct message to Donald Trump. The new mayor is pushing a heavy progressive agenda that is a massive threat to New York City's wealthy class and successful businesses. He's proposing to tax the rich 2% on incomes over $1 million to fund huge programs like city-run grocery stores and freezing rent. But let’s be real, this socialist blueprint is a proven recipe for disaster. We've already seen it destroy my home state of California: tax the rich, and they just leave for states like Texas and Florida that have lower or no income tax. Without that tax base, New York City will struggle to pay its bills. Plus, freezing rent won't make things cheaper; it just causes property owners to stop investing in maintenance, leading to slum-like conditions over time. But this is bigger than just money. Mandani's win, framed as an "immigrant victory," is a clear political weapon designed to dilute the political power of Black Americans in the city. When you have other people (like Musab Ali, running for mayor of Jersey City) claiming to be "the black Zoran Mandani" while being Pakistani, it shows a calculated political move to bring in new groups at the expense of Foundational Black Americans. This progressive shift is going to destroy the tax base, run off job creators, and increase the population of criminals and low-skilled workers. This will leave New York City looking run-down like Chicago, and you'll see the Black migration continue to shift back to the South where affordability is finally winning.
