I know Juneteenth is behind us, and many people may bypass this video. But, I have to speak out. For the second year in a row, innocent Black people died at a Juneteenth event. This year, a 17-year-old allegedly killed two women. One victim left three young children behind. Another mass shooting also occurred in Oakland, CA, this year at a Juneteenth celebration. We must revamp Juneteenth into a black power mentality rather than a mere day of celebration. Even Ms. Opal Lee hoped for more for Juneteenth. Otherwise, we are engaging in a slave mentality.
