Texas Lawyer Torches The Texas Cop Who Needlessly Endangered Many Young Innocent Black Athletes
A Texas DPS trooper confronted two young African American players during the Texas A&M vs South Carolina game at Kyle Field. The video shows the trooper step into their path, make contact, and assume a confrontational posture. DPS removed him from the game and opened a review based on reporting from the Houston Chronicle and Austin American-Statesman. This behavior is part of a wider pattern. African Americans are killed by police at more than twice the rate of whites, based on 2023 Mapping Police Violence data. Texas DPS data for 2023 also shows higher search rates for African American drivers. These risks appear quickly when officers escalate situations that involve no crime or threat. The players handled the moment well. They de-escalated an armed officer who should have de-escalated them.
